Be an organ donor
“We are deeply connected with causes which directly affect the betterment of our society.”
Our company’s chairman, Mr. Dipak Patel was diagnosed with cardiomyopathy and his only chance of survival was to get a heart transplant. Fortunately for him, he got his transplant done with the help of a kind donor and his family, an able team of surgeons, and blessings of the people. He got a second chance at life and started living a healthy life. But not everyone is as fortunate. Millions of people await their turn for an organ transplant and many lose their lives waiting for a donor organ. Mr. Dipak Patel was moved with this life changing Experience and he believed that only heightened public awareness can raise the cadaver organ donations in the country. So in order to create awareness about this life saving miracle and encourage maximum number of people to pledge their organs he Founded Shatayu in the year 2009 under the aegis of Govindbhai C. Patel Foundation, Supported by Ganesh Housing Corporation Ltd, "Shatayu" has evolved with the two fold objectives of increasing awareness about organ donation in India, and broadening the mindset of people towards the real "Gift of Life"
Shatayu - The Gift of Life
Khalil Gibran, the celebrated poet, artist and writer, once said,
"You give but little when you give of your possessions, It is when you give of yourself that you truly give"
This quote could well personify the principle behind organ donation. The concept of organ donation holds special value in a country like India, where the culture of giving is celebrated in each festival, be it Diwali, New Year, Eid or Christmas.
Organ and tissue donation is the process of retrieving organs and tissues from a deceased person and transplanting them into others in order to save or enhance the lives of those in need. A pair of eyes, a pair of kidneys, a pair of lungs, heart, pancreas and liver could be donated by a brain dead person and it can transform the life of 9 persons who can have a fresh lease of life.
"Shatayu" is derived from the age-old blessing from Indian scriptures, "Shatayu Bhava" which means "live until you are 100". Our motto is to increase the life span of every human being by our organ donation initiatives.
We, at Shatayu, want to try to ease the pain of as many of these lives as we can touch through our organ donation initiative. Join us in our endeavor to spread the message-your support could grant someone a new life and inspire many others to join the movement. Let's look at LIFE beyond death.
